The latest buzz in Kollywood is about the title of Vijay's 51st film. The actor titled this movie as Dalapathy! Remember, Dalapathy was the title of the Rajinikanth- Mammootty blockbuster released in the year 1991, as Diwali special. The Rajini movie produced by G.V.Films was a cult classic directed by Mani Ratnam and is still remembered as one of the best ever movie produced in Tamil.

Sources say that the similarity ends with the title. While Mani's film dealt with the friendship between two gangsters, the new movie will be a family entertainer with lots of action. The director has finalised Asin as to play the lead lady and Yuvan Shankar Raja as composer. The remaining technicians list will be expected soon.

Meanwhile, after hearing this news, the ardent fans of Rajini are totally upset and are planning what to do to prevent the damage for their Thalaivar's classic.

NBK’s upcoming film ‘Simha’ has completed 60% of its shoot. Balakrishna is romancing with three Tollywood heroines Nayanatara , Namitha and Sneha Ullal at a time in this film. This film is directed by Boyapati seenu and produced by Paruchuri seenu they thought that Nayan can justify the third heroine role, which need a graceful warrior looks. Nayan who joined the ‘Simha’ team later was also happy to know about these developments.

Producer said, “We have completed the major portion of the shooting at Hyderabad, and now planning to shoot the remaining at Vizag, Vizianagaram and Bobbili cities. We will continue till January 10th, with which we expect to complete talky part including three songs in that schedule. Again we will re start the next schedule after a week gap in the same locations and complete the remaining two songs. Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) for the first time will be seen in front of the camera in upcoming film SON OF A PREACHER MAN, about the life and times of Grammy winning singer-songwriter-producer PJ Morton.

Besides Rahman, other cast includes American Gospel musician Kirk Franklin (NORBIT), Grammy nominated American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard (LIFE ON A STICK), and producer Warryn Campbell (STOMP THE YARD). Shot in Atlanta and New Orleans in USA and London in United Kingdom, it will be released in 2010. Michael Akwesi Djaba (REASONABLE EXCUSE) is the director.

Rahman and Morton collaborated on Sajna song in recent Hollywood comedy COUPLES RETREAT.

Namitha’s fans must feel crushed to know that 14 opportunities to ogle at their dream girl went by since she rejected them all! But she has a very sound reason to back her decisions.

“I have made up my mind to be very choosy and wary of what roles I take up. In the past, I have been very gullible and hence ended up doing only song numbers in movies where I had actually been promised meaty roles.

Once I signed a project where I was supposed to play a detective, and was told to do a dance number like I was in disguise for an investigation. But after the song was shot, they told me that my character had been cut because it was digressing from the main story.

Hence once again I had done just one song in a movie.

Similar things have happened way too often. And now, after the success of Jagan Mohini, I am determined to do proper roles, not just glam ones. I don’t mind double heroine subjects so long as my part is equally important.

In the last four months I have rejected at least 14 offers, because they had no substance,” says a very emotional Namitha. Let’s hope 2010 will give her the image makeover she yearns for.

Because of his threatening we have to change five houses during the last two years. He is harassing me every day. The complaints which I had preferred in the Maduravoyal Police Station are still pending. Therefore I request you to enquire into this matter and safe guard me from Poopandian and his henchmen.”

Actress Sona who is well known for her super shapes and sizes will again producer a movie on her home banner. The entrepreneur cum actress will be producing a movie with actor Premiji and the subject of this film will be based on a Hollywood film which featured Hollywood hero Jim Carey.

According to sources, the cast and the crew for the movie have been finalized and Sona is said to spend Rs 7 crores on this movie. Director Shankar is busy calling the shots for Endhiran and the team has been spotted in several locations in Chennai and its suburbs. The latest is that the Endhiran unit was spotted at the Kathipara flyover in Chennai.

Several supporting actors were spotted wearing police uniforms, and there was a strong indication that it was fight or chase sequence. Rajinikanth arrived at the spot at 8 am and the shooting progressed till 12 noon. The traffic at the Kathipara flyover came to a standstill for a couple of hours owing to the shooting.

Endhiran also stars Aishwarya Rai, Danny Denzongpa, Karunas and Santhanam. The film is produced by Sun Pictures.

The BMW is slowly becoming a favourite among Kollywood stars. First it was Rambha who received a luxurious BMW 7 series from a Canadian company for which she’s the brand ambassador. The latest recipient of these snazzy wheels is actress Lakshmi Rai. But Lakshmi wasn’t as surprised by her new BMW as Rambha was.

She explains, “It was a birthday gift from my dad. I absolutely love the car and owning this BMW is a dream come true for me. I’ve been waiting for the past three years to own one,” she says.

The car in question is the executive, fifth of the new car series from BMW. This actress’ car has a Maharashtra registration and she had to wait six months to receive the car after booking it. “My birthday is on May 5 and we made a booking for the car on May 2, but there were some issues with the delivery and that’s why it got delayed for so long. I was keen on getting only a top-end model and that’s why I didn’t mind the long wait,” she says. However the car’s Maharashtra registration plate has given rise to a lot of speculation, which Lakshmi dismissed as ‘rumours’.

Meanwhile, one hears that this actress, who has recently moved to Mumbai, has also bought herself an apartment in the city which is reported to be worth Rs 4.5 crores.

Mango Dolly Rambha, who is currently in Canada, has been proposed to, but the actress hasn’t said ‘yes’ yet.

“We’re still discussing things,” she says, “Indran Padmanathan (owner of the company that has signed her as its brand ambassador) has indeed popped the question, but I haven’t made my decision yet.”

The news is that both sides will meet soon and take a decision on the marriage. Meanwhile, Rambha has put a firm end to rumours of anything happening soon. “The news that I’m getting married in December isn’t true,” she clarifies, “One of my cousins is getting married and that’s the only reason that a marriage hall has been booked in my name.”

On the film front, she’s finished work on Vidiyum Varai Kathiru, which is under post-production now. And, she’s also eagerly looking forward to a sequel to Quick Gun Murugun. “Yes, when a sequel happens, I’ll surely be a part of it,” she states cheerfully.

Many are asking me about me doing stereo typed roles. Definitely it is not. Though I wore half saree in Silambattam the role was a glamour one. In song sequences I acted with glamour dresses”.

Adding more on her roles, she says, “I am donning the role of an athlete in the film Thambikku Indha Ooru. So there is no village girl role in this film. In ‘Aayiram Vilakku’ I am doing the role of a Madurai girl. But I will not wear half saree. I will be wearing churidhar suits. In Santhu Pottu my role has prominence; I have donned the role of a pragmatic village girl. I got some Telugu films. Like how I acted with Simbhu, I also want to act with top young Telugu actors. I will wait until I get the chance. Presently I will be acting in Tamil films only.”

Veteran comedienne Manorama recently underwent a knee surgery in a private hospital in Chennai. Before the surgery, she was put under anesthesia. It seems ironic when actress Karthika claims that movies were not part of her career plan.

After all, her mother Radha and maternal aunt Ambika were acclaimed southern actresses just a couple of decades ago. “I’m a trained Kathak dancer and dancing interests me. Movie offers had been coming to me since I finished class 10 a couple of years ago. People wanted to see actress Radha’s daughter on screen, but we didn’t follow up on the offers,” explains the 17-year-old.

But when an offer to team up with debutant Nag Chaitanya came along, things changed. “Given that Josh was Nag’s launch vehicle, I knew I wouldn’t have much to do in the film.

But I’ve been brought up to believe that it is not quantity but quality that matters. I loved what I did and have no regrets about the film,” says Karthika.
