KareenaKapoor was born (on September 21, 1980) to Sindhi-speaking Babita (neeShivdasani) and Punjabi-speaking Randhir Kapoor in Bombay, India. She has anelder sister, Karisma. Her dad, Randhir is very protective towards hisdaughters and wanted both of them to keep away from acting, get married, andsettle down, as per the Kapoor family tradition. This led to irreconcilable differencesbetween her parents, ultimately leading to a divorce, with both sisters leavingtheir dad to live with their mom. In 2000, her film debut with ‘Refugee’ alongwith the debut of Amitabh Bachchan’s son, Abhishek. She went on to appear in 31other Hindi movies, and has thus far won four awards for her performances in ‘Refugee’,‘Chameli’, ‘Dev’, and ‘Omkara’.
