Anjali takes Khushboo route

Anjali is easily the most-loved and liked actress at present. Though she doesn’t have any major film opposite any of the leading heroes, she does make presence felt in the most telling manner. More than anything else – be it the banner or the hero or the director – seeking and getting performance-oriented roles in all her films appear to be the first criteria to Anjali.

After starring in the award-winning Angaadi Theru last year and in films like Rettai Chuzhi, Anjali has continued her winning streak this year too with significant roles in Ajith’s Mankatha, debutant director Saravanan’s Engeyum Eppodhum and with her latest release Thambi Vettothi Sundaram (TVS) opposite Karan.

She appears to be more careful in selecting her roles and doesn’t compromise on them. Her penchant for selection roles which offer scope to display her acting credentials is not dissimilar to the passion for performance-based roles displayed by yesteryear’s actresses K.R. Vijaya and Khushboo. Though she paired up opposite the doyens of Tamil cinema (MGR and Sivaji Ganesan) in many films, Vijaya had also starred opposite comedian Nagesh in the lead role in a few movies.

Many years later, Khushboo too did the same thing; even at the height of her popularity, she starred opposite the likes of Raja and Pandiarajan. Anjali appears to be taking a cue from them as she doesn’t mind pairing up opposite not-so-famous heroes like Vaibhav and Karan. One has to really salute her spirit and take things in her stride! Anjali has recently mentioned that there is nothing wrong in acting with glamour for the song sequences. She while speaking about this said,” I did the kissing scene in Angadi Theru because the story demanded it. Even in the film Magillchi that kissing sequence was required and because of this I had acted in it. Because of this many are asking me that whether there is a kissing scene in my next film and that why I am continuously acting in kissing scenes.

I had acted like this in the two films, because the story demanded it. That does not mean that I will continue to kiss in all my films. I am donning homely roles in the films in which I am currently acting now. All the roles have the scope for acting. I am very thankful to Vasanthabalan for this.

The reason for all these things is because Vasanthabalan gave me a powerful role in Angadi Theru. I have so far acted in five films including one Malayalam film. There is nothing wrong in acting glamorously for the song sequence. Because of this I am acting glamorously in song sequences without exceeding the limits.” (VM)

It’s been a while we heard some news from the Mankatha camp. Actress Anjali who played ‘Angari Theru’ lead joined the team at Mankatha. The reason cited for this new inclusion is that Dhayanidhi Azhagiri who produced ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ is taking up production duties for Mankatha too and hence the choice for Anjali.

The lady really enjoyed her experience and is excited to join the team, as she was quoted saying, “It was a wonderful experience .I am really blessed to be a part of the team and such a special offering by Ajith.”

Others in the list include opposite lead Trisha, Action hero Arjun, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaren and Vaibhav playing important roles.

A definite treat for Thala fans as the movie is expected to release on his birthday i.e. May 1. (KT)

Devi Kripa is acting in Bayam Ariyaan. Her real name is Anjali. She has acted in one or two TV serials. She has debuted in the big screen now. At the time of getting lot of offers, she has made a complaint against her ex manager Poopandian to Sub urban Commissioner of Police. In her complaint she has stated,” Poopandian is staying at Virugambakkam. His son Sukumar and my brother Arasu are friends.

In that way Poopandian use to attend our family functions. He was also taking care of my accounts for some time. He was also my manager for some time. At this point he was planning to misuse me. He was also trying to misbehave with me. But I did not agree for this. 2 years back he has taken my cheque book. I had signed a blank cheque for my mother. He misused this cheque by saying that I had borrowed Rs 20 lakhs giving this cheque leaves. He tried to encash these cheques.

But since I reported to the bank about this fraud, they had returned the cheques saying insufficient funds. After this he filed a case against me in the court stating that I have cheated him. This case is going on in Poonamale Court. Whenever I go to the court with my mother, he is threatening me with some rowdy elements. He has even damaged my car. He is continuously troubling me. Because of his threatening we have to change five houses during the last two years. He is harassing me every day. The complaints which I had preferred in the Maduravoyal Police Station are still pending. Therefore I request you to enquire into this matter and safe guard me from Poopandian and his henchmen.”
